Ordered the 27003 glass and bezel and having a difficult time mounting it to the clock. Please review the information below for help!
The 27003 bezel will be mounted via the threaded posts on one side of the bezel. These lengthy posts will go through the front surface of the clock so that the bezel is centered over the clock's face. From the back surface, you will thread the small nuts onto the posts to secure the bezel.
The prong on the bezel rim will insert a plastic catch rather than wood.
1.) Remove the plastic catch by pulling it off the bezel prong. As this is a friction fit, it may require a slight bit of force. In many cases, a nut may be pre-threaded on the plastic catch receptacle. Un-thread this nut before removing the catch receptacle from the bezel prong and set the nut in a safe location where it will not be lost.
2.) The catch receptacle will need to be recessed into the front frame. I have made this hole ¼” in diameter in the past. It is slightly oversized for the body of the receptacle, yet smaller than the front surface flange of the receptacle and the nut to secure the receptacle. The back surface of the clock frame will need to be counter-bored (slightly larger than the diameter of the nut) to allow the nut to thread onto (at least) 1/8” of the rear threaded portion of the plastic catch receptacle. How deep you counter-bore for each will depend on your clock assembly (the thickness of the dial face frame).
We hope that this helped to explain catch mounting in a more clarifying manner. I have also attached a general illustration of the catch receptacle, nut, and counter-bored holes to help illustrate what is explained above.
